Description
St. Mary's Primary School and No. 69 (Old Master's House) is a school building constructed in 1852. It is made of dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The structure is one storey high, with a two-storey end bay and consists of six bays. The first and sixth bays project under gables, which are coped. The windows are single-chamfered-mullioned, with some featuring leaded glazing. Most of the windows have trefoil-headed lights, primarily in pairs, while the return to the second bay includes a three-light window. The sixth bay has a four-light window on the ground floor and a three-light window on the first floor, both with shouldered lintels.
To the right of the second bay, there is a gabled porch with a segmental-pointed entrance. The gables of the first and second bays feature a quatrefoil and a gabled bell cote below the apex. The right return has three bays and an end lean-to bay, with the second bay projecting under a gable. There are three-light windows in the first and third bays on the ground floor, as well as a central window on the first floor. The entrance has a shouldered lintel and a plank door with strap hinges. The building is topped with four stone stacks.
