Description
74 Park Road West is a house, now functioning as a nursing home, that dates back to 1859 and is likely designed by Walter Scott. The building is constructed of red brick featuring blue brick diaper work and has a Welsh slate roof. It is designed in the Gothic style and consists of two storeys with an asymmetrical layout, including a three-bay range on the left and a projecting gabled wing on the right. The entrance is located at the angle of the building and features a stilted arched doorway within a porch that has a parapet.
To the left of the entrance, there are paired stilted arched windows, and above, three additional windows, one of which is an oriel window that projects out beneath a steep gable adorned with barge-boards and a pendant finial. The right wing includes a central stack that is corbelled out and features a date stone along with star-shaped shafts. On the ground floor, there is a canted bay window, and above the stack, there is a stilted arched window. All windows are two-pane sashes with stone mullions, brick arched heads with keystones, and kneelers. The building also has axial stacks.
