Description
The dove cote located to the north of Gayton Hall is a notable structure dating from 1663, as indicated by the inscribed lintel "16 EGK 63" (Edward Glegg). It features an octagonal plan constructed of brick with stone dressings and a stone base. The building has a stone string course and a top cornice. The entrance is characterized by flush quoins and a plain, inscribed lintel. There are two vertical bull's eye openings, one located above the entrance and another at the rear. Inside, the walls are lined with brick nesting boxes, although the central post is missing.
