Description

Sawyers Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century and remodelling in the late 20th century. The exterior is painted roughcast, with a Welsh slate roof. The two-bay, two-storey house also has attics. The left-hand bay is partially hidden by a neighbouring property. The front features a central doorway with a half-glazed door from the 20th century, and a wide sash window with 12 panes on the ground floor and a 10-over-10 pane window on the first floor. A 2-light casement window is located on the right-hand side of the first floor. The roof has two wedge-shaped dormers, each containing a 2-light casement with 6 panes to each light. The roof slope is divided by copings, with a coped gable to the left. A large conservatory from the late 20th century extends from the garden elevation. The interior was not inspected. The cottage forms an important group with Pengwern, located to the right.
