Description

Banastre Cottage is a late 18th-century house, built as one of a row of three. It was altered in the 19th and 20th centuries and is attributed to George Cripps. The house is constructed of brick, with some rendered areas, and has a slate roof and rendered end stacks. The front facade is two storeys and three bays, incorporating part of a taller two-bay building to the left. The lower part has two-storey timber canted bay windows based on the style of French window casements, featuring glazing bars and a double dentil cornice at the eaves. These flank a square projecting porch with a 20th-century half-glazed uPVC door. The taller bay to the left has a large canted bay to the ground floor, featuring angle pilasters and sash windows with glazing bars and a flat roof. A recessed sash window with glazing bars is present at first-floor level. The interior was not inspected.
