Description

Cockleshell Cottage, also known as No 57, is a building dated 1742. It is constructed of old brick with a stone roof and has two low storeys. The entrance features a glazed and panelled door set within a Tuscan-style case, topped by a lintel and a shell-shaped hood. On the ground floor, there are two 12-paned sash windows with thick glazing bars and segmental brick heads, along with two small 6-paned non-opening windows above. A datestone inscribed with "1742 C I A" is located over the centre door.
