Description

This is a shelter located beside Marine Lake, approximately 70 metres south of the pier in Southport. It was likely built around 1913 and manufactured by David King and Son in Glasgow, supplied by William Robson, an ironmonger in Southport. The structure is made of cast iron and glass, featuring a lead-clad roof.

The shelter has an H-plan design under a rectangular roof and is a single-storey building. It is supported by cast-iron columns with crocket capitals and has elaborate foliated brackets supporting the roof. The dado consists of solid panels adorned with Art Nouveau motifs, while the glazed screens feature iron glazing bars that radiate in the overlights. The roof is swept, and there are wooden slatted benches in the side and end bays.

This shelter is part of a group of shelters along the Promenade.
