Description
This is a shelter located opposite Albany Road in Southport, likely built around 1900. It was manufactured by David King & Son in Glasgow and supplied by William Robson, an ironmonger in Southport. The structure is made of cast iron and glass, featuring a lead-clad roof and has an H-plan design under a rectangular roof.
The shelter is single-storey, supported by cast-iron columns with crocket capitals and adorned with foliated brackets that hold up the roof. It has a dado of solid panels and glazed screens with iron glazing bars that radiate in the overlights, topped by a swept roof. Inside, there are wooden slatted benches in the side and end bays. This shelter is part of a group of shelters along the Promenade.
