Description
The Monro Public House is a public house built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof. The building has three storeys and is arranged in a five by six bay configuration. The corners are accentuated with rusticated quoins.
The ground floor has been altered but retains a plain doorcase in the first bay and keyed wedge lintels above the fixed windows in the second and third bays. The upper windows are all sashed with glazing bars and have similar heads. The rhythm of the windows along Suffolk Street is irregular; however, the fourth bay features tripartite sashes, while the first two bays are blocked. The building has two chimneys on its hipped roof.
