Description
The ha-ha located approximately 30 metres south-east of Beechley is a garden feature dating from around 1836, with slight alterations. It is constructed from sandstone random rubble and has flat chisel-dressed coping. The structure is 55 metres long and runs along the south-east side of the garden, parallel to the house. It is mostly straight, except for a semicircular bow that aligns with the bow of the house, and a return at the south end that is about 8 metres long, ending with an angled ramp that leads down to a pathway. The ha-ha is likely around half a metre high, though the north end and south-east corner are currently obscured by overgrowth, and the ditch is partly filled in, hiding the lower part of the wall. This feature forms a group with Beechley.
