Description

The Turner Memorial Home is a building for elderly men, constructed between 1881 and 1883 by architect A. Waterhouse. It is made of red sandstone ashlar and features a tiled roof. The structure is very large and irregular, consisting of two main storeys with attics. Notable architectural elements include stone mullioned and transomed windows, tall clustered chimneys, and pointed arched doorways. A round turret with a tall pointed conical roof adds to its distinctive profile. The chapel includes a Perpendicular style east window with five lights, flanked by five bays containing three-light windows. A timber gabled porch is located to the right, featuring a bay with a clock under the gable, which is dated 1883.
