Description
No. 69 Church Street, which also includes Nos. 2 and 4 Parker Street, is a shop building dating from the late 19th century. It is constructed of stucco and has three storeys with an attic. The building features one bay facing Church Street and three bays on Parker Street. The ground floor has 20th-century shop fronts. The first and second floors are distinguished by large bowed mullioned and transomed windows that support a deep entablature. These windows consist of wooden casements with leaded upper lights, flanked by flat pilasters. There is a pargetted band between the floors and a frieze above the second floor. The panelled attic has rectangular sash windows with glazing bars and a cornice. A central stucco stack is present. The Parker Street elevation mirrors the Church Street facade with two bays, while one bay is rusticated and features a round-headed recess with a decorated arch and a lower casement window, along with an upper blocked window. The entablature includes a pulvinated frieze, and the attic has panelled pilasters and a window with an architrave. This building is an important corner structure.
