Description

Two houses, dated to the mid-19th century, are situated at 46 and 48 Beaconsfield Road, and known as Stoneleigh. The buildings present a symmetrical three-bay design, with two bays set back on the left and a projecting bay on the right. A prominent cornice runs above the ground-floor level, along with a sill course and top frieze, and a cornice and blocking course to the top of the facade. The central bay of the symmetrical section projects forward. The windows are set within architraves; the ground floor has casements, while the first-floor windows are sash windows without glazing bars. A distyle-in-antis Tuscan portico with a balustrade provides the porch entrance, and the other bays are similar. The right-hand, end bay features a canted bay window extending over two stories.
