Description
The Cotton Exchange Building is an office building constructed in 1906 by architects Matear and Simon. It features seven storeys and has a facade with 21 bays. The ground floor is made of heavily rusticated stone, with windows that include keystones and sash windows with glazing bars. The upper sections are adorned with pilasters, reeded bands, wreaths, and festoons, all designed to appear very light and delicate. The central brick bay contains three sash windows on each floor, flanked by ten iron and glass bays on either side. The return side facing Bixteth Street has nine bays and follows a similar style, featuring iron window frames and iron lintels, but is finished with stone facing.
