Description
The entrance gateway and pavilions, dated 1886, are constructed of brick and stone. The gateway features a round-headed entrance made of rusticated stone with a coved surround and a foliated keystone, flanked by roundels. Above is a Lombard frieze and cornice, along with a stone plaque inscribed with "W.P.HARTLEY." The segmental pediment above displays the date. The flanking round turrets have battered bases, slits, and are adorned with a Lombard frieze and cornice.
The pavilions on either side consist of three bays, with the central bays projecting forward under segmental pediments. They have weathered bases, pilaster strips, and a corbelled parapet with coping, along with urns at the corners. The round-headed windows are complemented by entrances that feature flanking paired pilasters with Corinthian capitals. One of the round-headed windows on the east side has a diapered panel, while the western building includes an extra recessed bay to the left with an elliptical-headed window.
The return of the western building has four bays with paired windows, while the eastern building has paired windows and a projecting two-bay brick and terracotta extension from 1892, which includes a central buttress with a date cartouche under a pediment and a chimney above. The return of the eastern building consists of five bays, with the first four featuring paired windows and the end bay projecting forward.
