Description

This is a terrace of five houses located on the south side of Falkner Street, built in the second quarter of the 19th century. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings and have a slate roof. Each house is three storeys high with a basement, and has three bays. The design incorporates a basement lintel band, a sill band to the first floor, and a top cornice and blocking course. Most windows are sashed with glazing bars, each featuring a wedge lintel. There is one blind window on the second floor of each house, except for number 22. The entrances are round-headed and feature Doric doorcases with four-panel doors. The properties are set back behind iron railings and steps, with iron balconies to the first-floor windows of most houses. Number 16 retains a complete fanlight and lacks first-floor balconies. Number 18 has casement windows to the first floor. Number 20 features a complete fanlight and sashes without glazing bars, while number 24 also has a complete fanlight.
