Description
The presbytery adjoining the Church of St. Clare was built in 1890 by L. Stokes. It is constructed of brick and features a slate roof. The building runs north from the chancel of the church and has two large windows on each floor. The windows are casements with glazing bars that form an arch in the center, but they are flat-headed with a course of bricks on edge above the ground floor windows, while the first floor has simpler windows. The only decorative element is the stone-dressed doorway, which has a deep splay and a sharply pointed arch. The hood mould above the door ends in stops that are carved with the date. The door itself has ornamental hinges that are pierced in a rose pattern for glazing. There is an external stack on the gable and a rear gabled wing with swept roofs, all of which are simply detailed.
