Description
Richmond Baptist Church is a chapel built in 1864, designed by Sir James Picton. It is constructed of common brick with red brick banding and stone dressings, topped with a slate roof. The building has two storeys and features a three-bay arcade with Corinthian capitals, modern glazing, and original central doors. There is a sill band at the first floor level, which includes four hollow chamfered round-headed windows with iron framed casements and margin panes. Above these, there is a wheel window, and the gable is treated as an open pediment. The returns of the building have two storeys of windows set in round-headed recesses, with stone reveals and panels between the floors. Inside, the church has galleries on all four sides, a panelled ceiling, and iron columns that are fluted and topped with Composite capitals.
