Description
Nos. 1 to 7 Abercromby Square and No. 7A Abercromby Square form a terrace of eight houses built in the 1820s. They are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature a hipped slate roof. Each house has three storeys and a basement, with three bays for each house; the central house and No. 1 have five bays, while No. 7A has two bays and a later porch on the return. The central five bays and the two bays at each end project slightly.
The design includes a stone lintel band, sill bands on the first and second floors, and a top frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The windows have wedge lintels and are mostly sash windows without glazing bars. The entrances feature angle pilasters and entablatures, with most having half-glazed doors. There are plain iron area railings.
No. 1 has three rectangular iron balconies on the first floor across the first three bays, while No. 3 has three mid-19th century rectangular iron balconies on the first floor. No. 4 features a Doric porch and an iron balcony that extends over the porch. The windows above the entrance have architraves, with the first-floor window featuring a frieze and consoled cornice. No. 5 also has an iron balcony on the first floor. No. 6 is stuccoed, with a rusticated ground floor and first-floor windows that have eared architraves and iron balconies. Nos. 7 and 7A both have iron balconies on the first floor.
