Description
The Brockholes Arms is a public house built in the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a hipped slate roof. The building stands two storeys high, with one bay on each side of the porch. The facade is symmetrically designed, including a plinth, clasping pilasters, a first-floor sill band, and an eaves band. The windows have plain ashlar reveals, but there are modern external shutters that are not appropriate for the style. The ground floor windows are sashed, while the first-floor windows are also sashed and include glazing bars. Above the cornice of the tetrastyle Ionic porch, there is a plaque with a moulded border that reads "BROCKHOLES ARMS." Above the porch on the first floor, there is a carved shield of arms with a crest, flanked by pilasters. The building has chimneys on the side walls. The left-hand return wall, facing north, features three bays with pilasters between them. The windows on this side are sashed with glazing bars and have architraves, with the outer bays on the ground floor featuring cornices. The central ground floor window is tripartite and has a pediment.
