Description
Willow Barn, located on Carr House Lane in Wrightington, is a house dating from the late 17th century that has undergone alterations. The building features painted brick on a stone plinth, with some additions made of stone rubble. The roof is covered with stone slate at the front and slate at the rear. Originally, the house had a lobby-entry plan and consists of two storeys.
On the ground floor, there are four windows with plain reveals, and above the right-hand window, there are remains of a hood. The first floor has brick mullioned windows with configurations of 2, 4, 3, and 4 lights. The third window on the ground floor is set within a blocked doorway. To the right of the first ground-floor window, there is a straight joint, indicating that the left side of the facade, although painted, seems to be an addition in stone. A chimney is aligned with the blocked doorway. The current entrance is through 20th-century additions on the east side of the building. Historically, the house was shown as Woodoock House on a 6-inch map from around 1845.
