Description

Ravenshore Viaduct is a 19th-century structure that once carried the Stubbins to Accrington branch of the East Lancashire Railway across the River Ogden. Built in 1848, it is constructed from coursed tooled rubble and features three skew arches with impost bands on the piers. The viaduct originally had a parapet, which has been partially destroyed, along with coping and a string course. Its picturesque location on a dramatic site was notable enough to be described and illustrated in the Illustrated London News in September 1848.
