Description

The Temple is a summer house located approximately 130 metres north-northwest of the house at Gisburne Park, likely built in the mid 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with sandstone dressings and originally had a slate roof, which is now mostly missing as of 1983. The building is single storey. The west front faces the River Ribble and features pilaster strips with alternating rusticated blocks and vermiculated impost bands. At the centre, there is a Venetian door framed by Tuscan columns and a concentric super-arch, all set within an open pediment. The rear wall includes a door with plain reveals and a semi-circular head.
