Description

Harris Public Library, Museum and Art Gallery is a museum, art gallery, and library built between 1882 and 1893 by James Hibbert of Preston. It features sculptures by E. Roscoe Mullins and decorative elements by Rowland Rhodes. The building is constructed of sandstone ashlar, with the roof concealed by a parapet. It has a large rectangular plan that includes a podium at the front and is designed in a monumental Greek Revival style. The structure consists of three storeys above a basement, with the ground floor serving as a plinth and the upper floors designed as giant Orders. The interior has been slightly altered.
