Description

Two sets of railings, two lamp standards, and bollards are located in front of Miller Arcade. These features date from the late 19th century and were originally mounted on an island in the center of the street, next to public conveniences, but have since been removed and re-mounted closer to Miller Arcade. The railings are made of cast-iron with some wrought-iron elements and consist of two rectangular enclosures with bar railings, turned standards, dog-bars, and curly spear-heads. Each enclosure has semicircular overthrows at the end entries, decorated with elaborate scrolled wrought-iron cresting. There are also two tall cast-iron lamp standards with composite caps and two nearby bollards. These elements are included for their group value.
