Description
This sundial, dating from 1745, is located approximately 5 metres south of the Church of St. James in Goosnargh. It is made of sandstone and features brass furnishings. The sundial has a hollowed circular base formed by two semi-circular slabs that are stapled together, supporting a very simple, slim baluster-shaped pedestal topped with a moulded cap. It includes a brass plate and a triangular gnomon. According to Fishwick's Goosnargh, the plate is inscribed with the words: "Lat 53° 40' Vive memor Lethi fugit hora. The Revd Mr. Penny Minr. Henry Porter of Westfield Fecit and Sculp. 1745".
