Description

This is a row of six small townhouses located in Preston, dating from the mid to later 19th century and subsequently altered. The houses are built of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. Each house follows a double-depth plan and presents a single front, with coupled extensions to the rear. They are two storeys high, with cellars beneath. Each house originally had two windows at the first floor level.

Architecturally, the buildings feature a stone plinth, a sill band at the first floor, a plain frieze, and a moulded gutter cornice. Each pair of houses has coupled doorways with linked, pilastered architraves. The ground floor windows are single, while those above are paired. All windows originally had raised sills and wedge lintels. The windows at numbers 20 and 21 are now sash windows without glazing bars, while the others have altered glazing. Ridge chimneys are present. The interior and rear of the properties were not inspected.
