Description
No. 14 Avenhams Lane is a town house built around 1830, consisting of two sections and has been altered over time. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and a slate roof, featuring an L-shaped plan. The building has two storeys above cellars, with a later attic added.
The facade has three bays, with a central doorway that has a semi-elliptical head. This doorway is framed by engaged Tuscan columns with abaci, a plain frieze, and a cornice, along with plain jambs that have imposts and a fanlight above. The windows have raised sills and wedge lintels. To the right of the door, there is a large two-storey bow with two curved sashed windows without glazing bars on each floor, along with two low cellar windows. To the left, there is a late 19th-century canted bay window and two sashed windows without glazing bars on the first floor, with the window above the door now featuring applied leading and frosted glass. The building has a plain frieze and a moulded cornice that runs around it, with a hipped roof that includes a large flat-roofed dormer over the third bay and a chimney to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
