Description
This early 19th-century building on Fishergate Hill in Preston originally comprised a hotel, shops, and dwellings. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings, topped by a parapeted roof with brick and rendered ridge stacks. The building presents a six-window facade. The left side features wooden mullion and transom windows, while the right side has 6/6 sash windows. The second floor also has similar windows, with a 3/6 sash either side of a casement on the right. Stone lintels are above the first-floor windows, with those on the right painted white. A continuous cornice band serves as the lintels for the second-floor windows, and there's a low parapet above. The ground floor has two wooden mullion and transom windows to the left, and 20th-century shopfronts to the right. A central doorway is framed by columns in antis and a modillion cornice under an elliptical-arched head. The right end of the building is rendered and retains a 9/9 and a 9/1 sash window, alongside other 20th-century windows. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
