Description
The barn attached to the west end of Hey Fold Farm Cottages is now used as a store and likely dates from the late 18th century, with some alterations. It is constructed from random rubble sandstone with quoins and has a stone slate roof. The barn features three bays, with an outshut at the front on the center and right sides that includes a porch for the central wagon entrance. The porch has a cambered timber lintel made from a re-used cruck blade, and there is a visible diagonal trench for a former tie-beam on the rear surface. Inside the porch, there are iron-furnished, har-hung double doors, along with a doorway leading into the side of the outshut. To the right of the porch, there is a small window in the third bay, which has 20th-century glazing. On the left, the set-back first bay contains a square-headed doorway with a plain surround and a slab cornice. Additionally, there is an added stone platform at the angle with the porch, likely for milk-churns. At the rear, there is a smaller central doorway. The interior has not been inspected. This barn forms a group with the Hey Fold Farm Cottages to which it is attached.
