Description

This is a terrace of cottages built in 1829. The terrace was constructed by the Barnoldswick Friendly Society. The buildings are of squared, coursed rubble with a stone slate roof. Nos 18-26 each feature two windows and doorways, each with a peaked hood. No. 16 is taller and has a central doorway with a heavy cornice and frieze on pilasters. The ground-floor windows in this section are 19th-century shop windows. A stone oval panel with a moulded frame in the upper storey of No 16 is inscribed with the words "Built by / The Barnoldswick / Friendly Society / AD 1829."
