Description
Chapel House Farmhouse is a house dating from the mid-to-late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble, which was painted in 1981. The roof is covered in stone slate, with stone coping, moulded kneelers, and gutter corbels. The house has a double pile plan and originally had two window bays. It features two tripartite sash windows with a wide central light, and recessed stone mullions and window surrounds. A doorway, slightly to the left of the centre, is flanked by fluted Doric pilasters, has a triglyph frieze, and is topped by a pediment. A round-headed stair window on the rear elevation has impost blocks and a keystone, but contains fixed glazing. Gable stacks are present. The staircase, as documented by the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments, has turned balusters and a closed string. The house was likely built around 1762 for the minister of the adjacent chapel.
