Description

Higherford Old Bridge is a Grade II* listed structure dating from the 16th to 17th century. This single span stone packhorse bridge features bands over the voussoirs and was originally built without sides. Stone parapets were added between 1814 and 1815. The bridge spans Pendle Water and serves as a link in the old packhorse track between Colne and Pendle Forest. It is also designated as a Scheduled Monument.
