Description

The Leeds and Liverpool Canal Aqueduct over Wanless Beck was built in 1794 and designed by engineer Robert Whitworth. This aqueduct is constructed of dressed stone and features a single low round arch. The sharply curved abutments are reinforced by piers and extend to the ground on both sides, which are finished with raked copings. The parapet remains on the east side, although it may have been added later.
