Description

This is a late 18th-century house, altered in the 19th century, located on Castle Park in Lancaster. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar in narrow courses, with ashlar dressings and a stone slate roof punctuated by two skylights and chimney stacks on either side. The building follows a double-depth plan with a rear wing to the right. It has three storeys above a cellar and one bay width. All windows feature raised, plain surrounds and sills. The first-floor windows are paired and centrally placed, with 12-pane sashes. A single 4-pane sash window is located on the ground floor. The space where a window would typically be found on the left-hand side is occupied by a tall, narrow doorway, flanked to the left by a doorway leading to the yard. Both doors have plain raised surrounds and panels. An overlight sits above the front door.
