Description

There are five posts located at the south-west end near the junction with Castle Park, dating from around 1800. They are made of dressed sandstone and stand about 1 meter high. Each post has an octofoil shape in plan, with moulded bases and a slightly tapering form that features a wider, flattish cap of a similar shape, topped with a cast-iron ball. It is noted that the outer two posts are missing. These posts were originally placed to define the carriageway and mark the boundary of Castle Parade, in conjunction with two similar posts located at the north-east end.
