Description
Brown Edge Farmhouse, built in 1713 and altered later, is constructed of slobbered rubble and has a slate roof. The house is two storeys high and consists of two bays, featuring a drip course. The windows have rebated and chamfered surrounds; the right-hand ground-floor window, originally with four lights, now has one remaining mullion, while the left-hand ground-floor window has three lights with a plain stone surround and flat-faced mullions. The door, located between the bays, features a surround with an ovolo moulding that continues around a battlemented lintel inscribed with 'NH 1713'. A chimney is located on the left-hand gable. The adjoining barn to the left has a lower roof line and a blank front wall. Its rear wall includes two doorways with chamfered surrounds, the left-hand doorway having a pitching hole above with plain reveals. A buttress is positioned between the two doors.
