Description
Pilgrim's Rest is a group of estate cottages built in 1849, designed in the 17th century vernacular style. The cottages are constructed from sandstone rubble and topped with a slate roof. The building features a central block with two cross-wings and stands two storeys high. The windows include mullions, with some being chamfered and others rebated and chamfered, all of which appear to be re-used. Each cross-wing has a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window on the first floor. The main block has a bay on each side of a single-storey gabled porch. The left bay contains one-light windows, while the right bay has two-light windows. Above the porch door, which has a chamfered surround with a triangular head, is a plaque inscribed 'JEM 1849'. There are chimneys located at the outer sides of the main block.
