Description
Nos. 100 and 102 Blackburn Road is a house, probably built in the early 19th century, which has been altered over time. It features an ashlar facade with rubble sides and a rear, and has a slate roof that now includes one cut-down chimney at the right gable. The building has a double-pile, five-bay plan with a rear extension at the center. Although it is three storeys tall, it only presents two storeys to the street level, which is raised. The design is symmetrical and includes rusticated quoins, a first-floor sill-band, a moulded eaves cornice, and a central three-bay pediment that slightly breaks forward. The pediment has a rusticated rectangular doorcase with a cornice. The ground floor has been altered for use as shops, while the first floor features five sashed windows without glazing bars. The left return wall has two similar windows on each floor, and the rear includes a three-storey gabled extension, possibly a stair turret, with a two-storey lean-to on each side. The interior has not been seen.
