Description

Eagle Tower Farmhouse, now a house, dates to 1704, with later alterations and extensions. The south end of the building, which is the part of architectural interest, is constructed of sandstone with a cement render finish and has a red tile roof. A doorway is located near the south corner of the west gable wall, featuring a shaped lintel with the letter 'M' carved in relief, and a hoodmould above it. A lintel inscribed "I Y 17 04" is visible at ground floor. A six-light king-mullion window with recessed ovolo-moulded mullions is on the south side, with two more modern windows above. The east gable wall is constructed of coursed rubble at ground floor level, and random rubble above. A large modern wing to the north is not included in the listing. Inside, a baffle-entry is found in the end wall alongside a heck, with a stone slab on the outer side and a timber post and rail on the inner side. There is also an inglenook with a chamfered bressummer and two stop-chamfered beams supported by this, with two similar beams on the first floor.
