Description
This barn, located approximately 5 metres southeast of Bolton Green Farmhouse, is likely from the 17th century and was converted into a hall around 1950. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The barn is rectangular with three bays and has an aisle on the south side. It is adjacent to other altered former farm buildings on the north side. The structure includes a plinth, and the aisle wall has blocked ventilation slits at two levels with stone heads. The left gable wall contains two doorways, one of which is blocked, and there is a three-light flush mullion window at first floor level of the aisle at each end; however, most openings have been altered.
Inside, the barn features two kingpost roof trusses with fishbone struts, and the tie beams to the aisles have been relocated as struts. There is also a modern "gothic" fireplace in the north wall.
