Description
This family chapel, located approximately 50 metres southeast of Euxton Hall, was built in 1866. It is constructed of red sandstone, with brick at the rear, and features yellow stone dressings and a fishscale slate roof. The chapel has a simple rectangular plan and is a single cell in Gothic style, characterized by its steeply pitched roof and buttresses.
The windows are arched and traceried, complete with hoodmoulds that have figured stops. The south wall contains three windows, each with two lights, while the west gable features a tall three-light window with a rose at the top. Below this window is a moulded band with a carved medallion on either side. At ground level, there is a diamond-shaped tablet with incised lettering that reads:
IN HONOREM DEI SUB INVOCATIONE BEATAE MARIAE INNACULATAE GULIELMUS MICHAEL INCE ANDERTON ET UXOR EIUS DOMINA EMMA ANDERTON DIE XV° ANGUSTI ANNO DOMINI MDCCC LXVI.
