Description

T Robinson Prospect Terrace is a terrace of six townhouses, now serving as a club, shop, and offices. The building is dated 1848 on the left return wall of No. 66 and has been altered over time. It is constructed from chisel-dressed sandstone ashlar and features a slate roof, designed in a debased classical style. The terrace has a double-depth plan, with each house being single-fronted and having back extensions.

The structure stands three stories high and has a symmetrical arrangement of windows, with two sets of two windows at each house, and a central section and ends that project slightly and are topped with pediments. It has a plain plinth, sill bands on the pedimented sections, and moulded gutter cornices. Nos. 70 and 74 have doorways with plain surrounds and evidence of former canopies or porches that have been removed. Nos. 66, 72, and 74 have 20th-century altered ground floors, while the windows are generally vertical-rectangular with plain surrounds. The first and second-floor windows of No. 74 are sashed with glazing bars, while the others have altered glazing.

Between the first-floor windows of No. 66 is a triangular-headed plaque with raised lettering that reads "ROBINSON/ PROSPECT/ TERRACE." The ridge chimneys are located only on the right-hand portion of the terrace. The four-window left return of No. 66, which faces Albert Street, features a rectangular plaque with raised lettering stating "ALBERT/ STREET/ 1848." At the rear, No. 76 has a tall round-headed stair window with radiating glazing bars and a keyed surround, along with 16-pane sashed windows on the first and second floors; the other windows have been altered. The interior has not been inspected.
