Description
This is a block of six back-to-back cottages, now comprising two shops and one cottage, dating from the 18th century and subsequently altered. The cottages are constructed of coursed sandstone with a slate roof. They are double-depth, each one bay wide. A vertical joint is visible between numbers 13 and 11, suggesting an early addition to the right. Numbers 13 and 15 have doorways offset to the right, featuring plain surrounds and simple, steeply pitched slab “pediments” above the doors. The ground floors of numbers 13 and 15 contain shop windows, while number 11 has a doorway to the left and a large, altered rectangular window. All of the cottages have two square windows on the first floor, with altered glazing, except for the window on the left side of number 13, which retains a flush mullion and two narrow sash windows. Gable chimneys are present, along with two ridge chimneys. At the rear, number 11 is slightly canted. Each cottage has a large two-light flush mullion window on the ground floor and two square windows above, with altered glazing. Each has a door; the door at number 13 has a pediment similar to those at the front. Internally, some chamfered beams remain, although the interiors have otherwise been altered.
