Description

The Astley Green Museum Winding Tower is a pit-head winding tower built in 1912. It is constructed from wrought iron, featuring wrought-iron lattice girders with rivetted plates at all the joints, which form the structure of the tower. The tower has inclined girders on the winding house side. At the top, there are three wheels: two large and one small. Minor alterations were made during its working life to meet statutory safety requirements.
