Description

A row of four houses, dating from 1854, built for the Haigh Hall estate. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings and have a slate roof. They are arranged as one storey with an attic, with four bays, the end bays projecting forward beneath gabled roofs featuring decorative barge boards. Quoins mark the corners. The windows have plain stone architraves with label moulds, and contain four-light, small-paned casements, the panes pointed. Similar windows are found on the first floor, with those to the central bays located within gabled half-dormers. The paired central entrances are sheltered by a label mould and feature half-glazed doors. The returns of the houses have gabled porches, with ridges parallel to the return walls, and four-centred arches above the entrances; the entrance to number 1 has a half-glazed door with Y-tracery. Four brick stacks are paired across the ridge.
