Description

A pair of semi-detached houses built in 1907-8, designed by John N Cocker in the Edgar Wood manner. The houses are constructed of brick with a graduated stone slate roof. They are large and symmetrically planned, with two storeys plus an attic. Each house has two bays; the outer bay features a coped gable with kneelers and is flanked by brick pilasters. The ground floor of the inner bays have six-light mullion and transom windows, while the outer bays have a seven-light canted bay window with a coped parapet – the parapet to No. 225 has been replaced with a pitched roof. The first floor has five-light timber mullion windows in each bay, and the gables have three-light attic windows. All windows have leaded lights. The side elevations feature a similar coped gable above a two-storey segmental bow window with a coped parapet. One bay projects and contains the front door. Chimney stacks are on the gables and party wall.
