Description
Broadoaks is a house that has been converted into flats, built in 1907 by Edgar Wood. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a red clay tile roof. This large, asymmetrical detached house has two storeys plus an attic. Notable architectural details include stone corner bands, overhanging eaves, and coped kneelers on the steeply pitched roof. The central gabled bay projects and has a hipped porch that is now fitted with two separate doors for the flats, positioned off-centre. To the left, an additional double door has been inserted. The casement windows vary from one to five lights, with some featuring transoms and glazing bars. The left gable includes a two-storey canted bay window, while the rear has a similar one that is only one storey high. There are also attic lights on each gable. The house was built speculatively as part of the Richardson Estate.
