Description

A pair of semi-detached houses, Turvelaws and White Thorn Lodge, were built in 1907-8 by John N Cocker, in the Edgar Wood manner. They are constructed of brick with a graduated stone slate roof. The houses are large and symmetrically planned, with two bays each. The central bays feature five-light mullion and transom windows on the ground floor, four-light mullion windows on the first floor, and three-light windows in the attic. Painted plaster panels in a lozenge shape decorate the gables. The outer bays have two-storey canted bay windows with seven lights. Doorways are located on the rear of the side elevations, beneath a projecting, gabled upper floor. This upper floor, along with the main gable, features painted lozenge and roundel panels in plaster. A shared central chimney stack and a gable stack with gableted weathering are present.
