Description
The Union Baptist Church is a chapel built in 1867, constructed from brick with an ashlar facade. It features a three by five bay hall with a single gallery and showcases a Classical style with Baroque influences. The entrance elevation has an open pediment and is divided into three bays, with a boldly rusticated plinth and a stepped approach leading to the central double doors. The central bay is flanked by paired giant three-quarter columns that support the pediment. The facade includes three windows arranged in two tiers, with the upper windows being arched; the middle upper window is larger and its head extends into the entablature that runs across the front and wraps around the first bay of the side elevations, which match the front's side bays. The church has a parapet and tall arched windows on the sides, featuring an impost band and apron panels. At the rear, additional rooms and vestries project to either side. Inside, the church is fitted with timber pews, a gallery, and a pulpit, along with a coved ceiling and stained glass windows.
